Using #LikeAGirl as an insult is a hard knock against any adolescent girl. And since the rest of puberty's really no picnic either, it's easy to see what a huge impact it can have on a girl's self-confidence. We're kicking off an epic battle to make sure that girls everywhere keep their confidence throughout puberty and beyond, and making a start by showing them that doing it #LikeAGirl is an awesome thing. "In my work as a documentarian, I have witnessed the confidence crisis among girls and the negative impact of stereotypes first-hand," said Lauren Greenfield, filmmaker and director of the #LikeAGirl video. "When the words 'like a girl' are used to mean something bad, it is profoundly disempowering. I am proud to partner with Always to shed light on how this simple phrase can have a significant and long-lasting impact on girls and women. I am excited to be a part of the movement to redefine 'like a girl' into a positive affirmation." So tell us... what do YOU do #LikeAGirl? For the past 30 years, Always has been empowering girls globally, bringing puberty education to millions of adolescent girls. Oreo Snack Hacks - Midnight Hack by Chef Roy Choi -
Oreo Turns Snack Hacks Into Web Series To honor all those remixing its food in innovative ways, Oreo launched a Web series earlier this week to showcase top chefs Roy Choi, Michael Voltaggio and Nguyen Tran hacking the sweet treat into popular food entrées. The videos are all part of Oreo's ongoing Snack Hack's campaign, but the idea of tweaking the Oreo experience didn't originate at the company. It was inspired by a viral picture of a person dunking the cookie in a glass of milk using a fork as a way to keep their hands clean. "In 100 years people have been dunking Oreo cookies, and somebody comes up with a fork!" Kristin Hajinlian, brand manager at Oreo at Mondelez International Inc., told Adweek. "Isn't that a creative way to enjoy the cookie in a new way? It got us thinking about what are the other kitchen utensils and things that you can bring into the Oreo experience." The company realized mixing up the Oreo experience—and eating food in general—was a popular trend online, so it decided to jump on it. Soon after, the company was encouraging fans to post their own twists on the Oreo eating experience and label their inventions with the hashtag #OreoSnackHack. New ideas popped up, including putting the cookie in a pepper grinder to create sprinkles or mixing bits it in with popcorn for additional flavor. Vine video series were spawned, but Oreo wanted to take it to the next level with this new Web series. Fans will see Choi making chicken tenders with golden Oreos, Voltaggio concocting alcoholic Oreo Shandys (not as gross as it sounds!), and Tran creating an Oreo bread pudding dish sans an oven. All the treats only involve a few steps so the average person can watch the video, head to the kitchen and try it themselves. The company really isn't interested in bringing the campaign to the print or television medium: It wants Snack Hacks to stay organic in the social media realm. How to Cook Oreo Midnight Hack 2 Boneless, skinless chicken breasts (1⁄4 inch thickness; about 1.5 lb.) 1 Cup (15 cookies) Golden Oreo cookies, wafers only 1 Cup all-purpose flour 2 Eggs, lightly beaten, with 1 tbsp of water added 1 Cup panko breadcrumbs 1 Cup chopped Italian flat-leaf parsley Kosher salt, fresh ground pepper Vegetable oil for frying (about 2 Cups) 1. Add cutlets to cookie/breadcrumb mix and coat well 5. Heat oil in frying pan and fry breaded cutlets until cooked through (about 4 minutes per side).
Buick Pinboard to Dashboard Design Concepts Come to Life
In October 2012, Buick launched the Pinboard to Dashboard design program as part of the Buick Encore launch. Ten of the top design, fashion, food and lifestyle bloggers traveled to Detroit, Mich. for an exclusive trip behind the scenes of the Buick Design Center. After meeting the design team and exploring the vehicle, each blogger developed a Pinterest board showcasing how the Buick Encore speaks to their personal style and life passions. Blogger Michael Wurm Jr.'s pinboard was chosen in December 2012 as the inspiration for the Buick design team. His personalized, stylized Encore was revealed this week during the 2013 New York Auto Show. Come behind the scenes with the Buick design team to learn how they turned Michael's inspirations into 2D design concepts. For more on the Pinboard to Dashboard program, visit http://spr.ly/p2d
