Hi there, I’m Tomas Michaud founder of Real Guitar School. Are you wondering what’s the best way to learn guitar – there’s private lessons, group lessons or lots of online courses, books, DVD’s even universities. Well, you’re in the right place. I’m gonna go through each of the options for you and let you know the Pro’s and Con’s so you can make the best decision. Let’s start with the PRIVATE INSTRUCTOR. The pros of a Private Instructor are; it can be very inspiring to have a good instructor who can encourage you and support you in your progress. Also an instructor can watch what you’re doing and correct the way you’re doing before it becomes a bad habit that can save you a lot of time and frustration. Also there’s a certain amount of accountability built into the relationship because you’re coming to see your instructor on a regular basis, you’re more likely to practice and be prepared for that lesson. Some of the con’s are it is expensive to have the personal attention of a competent guitar instructor. Also, it can be difficult to find a good instructor. A lot of the instructors are not very organized or systematic. Travel time can be time consuming depending on how far it is from your home. You may encounter traffic and half hour a lesson can turn into an hour or two hours and there is a subtle conflict of interest that instructors have, they will challenge you on practicing or push you too hard for the most part because they don’t wanna lose you as a student and at the same time lose a pay check. Now for ONLINE COURSES the pro’s are they’re usually more affordable. You can review your lesson usually at any time that you have access to your computer and there’s more flexibility in terms of when you have your lesson. As a matter of fact it’s pretty much at your own convenience day or night. Some of the con’s are there is either limited or no accountability. You’re the only one who knows if you’re practicing or achieving progress and there’s little or no feedback depending on how the lessons were setup and there is a lack of customization because the lessons are usually in some kind of order or either you have to follow that order or you use your own judgement about when to skip around not the same as having a confident instructor to tell you what you need to work on. BOOKs and DVDs , the pros of Books are they are great value. There a lot of bang for your buck and they can be used in conjunction with other lessons like private lessons or even online lessons and you can always share both DVD’s and Books with other people. Some of the con’s are no feedback. Books can’t really show the movement too well. DVDs are better for that and it’s not easy to update a book. You pretty much have to buy a new book if you want to get either more material or an updated version of what you’re using. - - - - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_mbb... best way to learn guitar how to learn guitar how to play the guitar learn guitar learn to play guitar
