General Catalyst Partners is a venture capital firm focused on making investments in early stage technology-based companies including software, infrastructure software, and applied technology businesses. The firm also includes a growth capital team that focuses on later-stage investments via their XIR program.[citation needed]The firm, which has offices in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Palo Alto, California, was founded in 2001. The firm has raised approximately $2.2 billion since inception across six funds, including a $500 million fund raised in 2011.
