Wind Power

Wind power is extracted from air flow using wind turbines or sails to produce mechanical or electrical power. Windmills are used for their mechanical power, windpumps for water pumping, and sails to propel ships. Wind energy as an alternative to fossil fuels, is plentiful, renewable, widely distributed, clean, produces no greenhouse gas emissions during operation and uses little land. The effects on the environment are generally less problematic than those from other power sources.Large wind farms consist of thousands of individual wind turbines which are connected to the electric power transmission network.

… the past three years. And like its immediate predecessor, Fort Worth will be powered by 100 percent renewable energy, thanks to the 200 megawatts of new wind energy we helped bring to the Texas grid as part of this deal. Thanks to our continued focus on efficiency and our investments in renewables in recent years, the carbon impact of one person’s…

… the Wellsburg wind farm, as tracked by renewable energy certificates. This wind farm adds 140 megawatts of new renewable energy to the grid and is enough to match our projected load. We’ve built the Altoona data center to be efficient and sustainable. Like our other data centers, Altoona is cooled by 100 percent outside air and features the latest…
