How to Make Great YouTube Videos! What’s up everybody it’s Coach Caleb from EpicEveryRep.com! Cameras: GoPro Hero 3+ Black Edition and I use my built in iSight Camera on my Mac Book Pro for when I’m in front of a backdrop. Microphone: I don’t use a microphone. I just use the mic built into my camera and GoPro. Not perfect, but that’s ok. Editing Software: I started off with iMovie on my Mac, but upgraded to a Final Cut Pro X because I spend a LOT of time editing. Studio Setup: I have a FRANKENSTUDIO! Pretty simple! Coming up with a video concept! #1- Listen to what people are asking for. If 5 people have the guts to reach out and ask, that means there are probably 5,000 others that are wondering the same thing! #2- Read personal development or books specific to YOUR profession! If you’re a Beachbody Coach, or a leader, or anybody trying to inspire or teach a large group of people, books and audiobooks will give you SO MANY great ideas. #3- Simply keep your brain OPEN to ideas Not sure how to explain this one, but sometimes, if your mind is open to it, a concept or lesson pops into your brain, stays there for 2 seconds, and then you forget about it. CAPTURE THOSE MOMENTS. #4- STAY FOCUSED In general, the wider your topic of focus, the longer your video becomes. The more defined your topic, the quicker you can effectively share your message. I believe pretty strongly that SHORTER videos are better. Shooting the video! #1- THINK about what you’re going to say. One of the biggest issues I think people have with their videos is confidence in front of the camera, and that’s a result of not having a CLUE about what they really want to talk about! Figure that out! #2- Don’t be NERVOUS. People, don’t forget: if you mess up, you’re going to die. The YouTube nazis are NOT going to knock down your door and shoot you for making a bad video. #3- Make sure you have good lighting! The whole point of making videos is incorporating a VISUAL component to your messages, so if your VISUAL component sucks, or if it’s too dark, or WAYYYY too bright, you’re not going to make that VISUAL connection. #4- Background noise can make or break your video. Hear that music? Pretty cool, right? If it’s too loud, you’re competing against it! If it’s too quiet, things can get…awkward. If you’ve got other things going on outside of the camera that’s not supposed to be in the video, it can get pretty distracting, too. #5- Frame your shot Folks, make sure you’re aware of what you’ve got going on in the shot. Enough said. General Tips! #1- Do not try to be perfect with you’re videos. Leave a lasting impression will not just trying to impress people. Does that make sense? #2- The MESSAGE is the most important part of your video. All tips and tricks aside- focus your effort on putting out a GREAT, VALUE-DRIVEN message, and no matter what your video-making approach is, it’ll be effective. # 3 Emulate, but don’t copy! Don’t try to completely recreate the wheel, but at the same time, don’t STEAL MY IDEAS and the wheels off of my car. There’s a BIG difference. If you watch this video and start attempting to make videos exactly like mine, people will see exactly what you’re doing, and it doesn’t look good. Yours will just not be the same, because my style is NOT your style! Take what you like, and make it YOUR version of YOUR style. # 4 Be YOURSELF.
